Climate change and mental health: a commentary

Abstract Climate change represents a major global challenge. Some hallmarks of climate that have been connected to human activity include an increase 0.8–1.2 °C in temperatures as well the warming upper ocean water. Importantly, approximately 500 million people worldwide face consequences desertification. Simultaneously, world population has grown from 1.6 billion 1900 7.7 today, greatly exacerbating toll devastating environmental disasters, which result increasingly larger and more common mass migrations also fuel trafficking modern-day slavery. The mental health outcomes are staggering include, context chronic stress, addiction, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), bipolar disorder, depression, suicidality. Mental practitioners, healthcare systems, governments across need be prepared address sequelae change.
